Corolla vs Civic Performance Specs

Toyota Corolla Barcelona Red Metallic

The 2019 Toyota Corolla is known for being a great daily commuter since it has smooth, responsive handling and a lively performance.

It comes standard with a 1.8L 4-cylinder engine that delivers 132 horsepower and 128 lb-ft of torque. Plus, the engine can be paired with either a standard continuously variable transmission (CVT) or an available 6-speed manual transmission. The CVT was designed to offer plenty of power without sacrificing fuel efficiency.

However, the 6-speed manual transmission still delivers plenty of efficiency. When equipped with this transmission, the Corolla achieves an EPA-estimated 27 city/35 highway MPG.1 So, you can get to work, run errands, and more before needing to stop at a gas station to refuel.

The 2019 Honda Civic delivers the same kind of power and handling that you’ll find in the Toyota counterpart. However, while the Corolla comes standard with a CVT, it’s an option in the Civic.

The Civic instead comes standard with a 6-speed manual transmission. Unfortunately, this results in the Honda not being quite as efficient, achieving an EPA-estimated 25 city/36 highway MPG.

Corolla vs Civic Interior Features

Step inside the 2019 Corolla or 2019 Civic, and you’ll find a well-designed interior with plenty of space and features.

The Corolla can comfortably seat five people, as it offers lots of legroom (42.3 inches in the front and 41.4 inches in the back). The Civic has 42.3 inches of front legroom, too. However, it has just 37.4 inches of rear legroom, which may be a tighter fit for some adults.

Still, both cars have dozens of amenities to help keep you comfortable, which include power-adjustable, heated front seats. Not only can you easily find your ideal seating position, but you can also get nice and toasty fast.

Another feature each vehicle offers is Push Button Start. Rather than digging your keys out from your purse or pocket, you can leave them be and just push the button to start your car—letting you quickly be on your way.

The Corolla and Civic also have many high-tech features to help keep you connected and entertained. For example, they both offer SiriusXM® Satellite Radio and HD Radio™—giving you more listening options beyond the standard AM/FM radio.

They both offer an advanced navigation system, as well. Not only will you get detailed turn-by-turn directions, but real-time traffic and weather updates will help you get from Point A to Point B in no time at all.

Additionally, the Toyota Corolla offers an Entune® App Suite. This feature lets you download various apps onto your mobile device to use through the vehicle’s display screen. After plugging the phone into the car’s USB port, you can stream music, check Facebook statuses, make dinner reservations, and more—without needing to touch your phone while driving.

The Honda Civic offers a similar smartphone integration feature. Unfortunately, it’s not as extensive as the one found in the Toyota. So, while you could listen to music and send text messages, you may not be able to do as much as you could with the Entune® App Suite.
